The Ultimate in formal Mens Hire @ Savvy Cinderella

I have certainly been kept busy here at Savvy Towers, with the launch of our new Savvy’s Ultimate Men’s hire service, Prom season, and of course what has seemed like the busiest wedding period ever.  What has surprised me is the number of brides choosing to get married  in record breaking time, many having less than 4 weeks to plan for the dress, and make all the other arrangements.  Some having less than 2 weeks, and a couple choosing the dress a week before the wedding.  One traumatised bride was very organised, choosing her dress last year, but on going to collect it from the ‘posh’ bridal store last week, just over a week before her wedding, was devastated to find it had been sold by mistake to someone else.  Luckily we found her a lovely dress, and she loved it more than the original one, but it could have been a disaster for her.

The Mens hire has been great.  The brides2be is able to match up the colours of her bridesmaids with the grooms party, so we can narrow the choices down for the groom when he comes in.   Rather than show him 30 waistcoats to choose from, with 50 tie colours, we can narrow the choice down to 5, giving him the confidence to know that whatever one he chooses, whatever combination he decides upon, he is keeping within the right colour scheme.  Some men are very actively involved in colour schemes and know exactly what shade of purple they are looking for – others visibly wilt when confronted with the fact that they need to opt for Eggplant.  One lovely Groom told me last week, he didn’t even know what an Eggplant was, let alone what colour it was.  He was thinking of going with yellow, as it looked ‘eggy’.  So it was nice to be able to guide him through the purples, and it turned out to be fun experience for him and his dad, and not as traumatic as they had imagined.  It does make me smile though to see that some men are much more shy than the women, and much more self conscious.  Most men are shocked to find that formal trousers are so high waisted – with the cry ‘I look like Simon Cowell’ often being the first comment on exiting from behind the curtain.  Simon Cowell wears his trousers right.  He gets them fitted by the top tailors of the world, so  although he gets ridiculed for them, he is correct. Formal trousers are high waisted, but covered up under the waistcoat and jacket, they look great.  Once the whole look is complete, every man is impressed that he can look so good.  The common thing that all men want, whether they are the Dad, Groom or Best Man is for the bride to be proud of them, and I find that really touching.

So, another busy week ahead, the sudden heatwave meant a lot of very hot brides at the weekend, but blue skies always makes the photo’s great.

I would like to say a big thank you to my parents.  This week my Dad has worked hard making the entrance to Savvy Cinderella very summery with a lovely display of flowers, and my mum quietly slipped into the house, and tidied up for me (without commenting on the destruction and chaos).  They gave me the time to celebrate my birthday with a lovely lunch with my husband – mid week which is unheard of.  So thank you.   Without Nicks help, the kids patience and you both offering your support, this wouldn’t be so easy.  I really do appreciate it.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Sue x
