Savvy Cinderella Recommended Hair Salon
It has been such a busy time recently, that I have completely overlooked the state of my hair. With steaming dresses ready to go out, and the recent heatwave, my hair looks like I have had a week in the Tropics, with that nasty ‘Frizzy’ that too much time on a hot tropical beach can bring – only I haven’t been anywhere half as exciting. The highlight of my week is if I manage to go out in my car with the roof down, and then ofcourse I end up looking even more frizzed and windswept, as well as pulling bugs out of my hair. So my poor hair has been punished recently, and was beginning to show the strain.
My regular hairdresser has probably forgotten about me, as it has been so long since I have been, and she has always been brilliant. This week she was too busy to fit me in, and as it was a hairdressing emergency, as I had a free period over lunch, I had to look elsewhere. A lot of my local customers have recommended a local Salon, in March, called Spike and Violet, and as all of them had lovely hair, I thought it was a safe bet. So I booked an appointment with Jane, threw the roof off my car, and drove through the fens to my appointment. I arrived looking like I had skydived in – hair dry, frizzy and unmanageable, and an hour later I emerged, massaged, relaxed, sleek and sophisticated. (okay, I am stretching the truth slightly with that last part, Spike and Violet are a Hair Salon, not a Finishing School!) But, my hair looks good, I feel refreshed, relaxed and ready to face the world again. Jane has just moved to March from Scotland, and is really lovely, and I am sure she will settle in to Fenland Life very easily. She is kind, easy going and very gentle, and has given me a fabulous cut and blow dry, and I have made an appointment for ‘the works’ in a few weeks time. The team at Spike and Violet seem very friendly and relaxed too, which I like. I visited a hairdresser a few years ago, where everyone was chatty and lovely, until the head stylist, (the owner) nipped out, then it was hatchets out, and her dirty laundry washed in public by her co-workers. When she returned, everyone went back to being lovely again, and she was unaware that her private life had been discussed in intimate detail. That put me off going again, you need to be able to trust your hairdresser, she see’s you at your worst, your wettest, greyest and frizziest, you need to know she won’t share your dark root secrets, and name and shame you. What I liked about Spike and Violet, is that if my hair wasn’t naturally this colour, and if I were to want the odd highlight or two, then they made sure an appointment was booked to do tests, and have a consultation before hand, to ensure everything was safe and proper, and I knew what colour to expect. I know all hair salons should do this, but they don’t. So it is good to know they are on the ball, and care about the procedures.
My poor daughter was in an emergency hair situation recently, so I mistakenly sent her with her dad to a hairdressers, that I hadn’t realised specialised in ‘mature’ ladies. She wasn’t happy with me when she returned. ’They stuck big domes on all the old ladies heads, and sucked the youth out of me’ she moaned. She gets her over exaggeration skills from her Father!
So, if you are looking for a stylist in the Fenland area, then I would definitely recommend Spike and Violet. Jane was brilliant, as I am sure the other stylists are too, as they have all been recommended to me, by customers with lovely hair. They do wedding hair, and prom hair too, so are worth visiting for a consultation if you have a big day coming up.
Look at their facebook page, they have good offers on for their members. search for Spike & Violet.
Good Luck to all my Savvy Cinderella’s getting married this weekend. Especially to the lovely Zoe from Essex, and fabulous Heather from St Neots, and my beautiful ladies in Red, thank you being so lovely to work with, I hope all your weddings are perfect. It has been such a pleasure being part of your preparations. Heather sent me a lovely Rose Bush called Sweet Dreams, which my dad is planting for me. Such a lovely gesture, thank you Heather.
Enjoy it all.
