Last minute Bride & Happy Fathers Day
It has been so crazy here, with last minute weddings to attend to, as well as the ones planned with lots of time. The record for the most last minute wedding goes to a lady from somewhere in South London, who called me for the very first time this morning, wanting a wedding dress for her wedding tomorrow. I said that I was very busy today, but I would stay open late so she could come and try on some dresses, but it would have to be a case of ‘if it fits you can have it,’ as I can’t get alterations done on a Friday night for a wedding the next day. She then shouted at me for being situated too far away from her. “Didn’t I understand her wedding was tomorrow, she couldn’t travel all this way,”. She said she had other things to plan for tomorrow. I said I did understand, and I would help, but I wasn’t sure what she wanted me to do. She took a deep breath and said in an impatient voice ”I need a wedding dress, I am getting married at 12 noon tomorrow, but you are too far away for me to come to, and I want it in white, with a full skirt. long train, just send me one out for delivery tomorrow”. I explained that the dress would need to be fitted first, and she surely would want to try it on to make sure it would fit, however, I said if she told me what size she was, I could send her pictures of dresses which may be suitable, but I couldn’t guarantee it would be a perfect fit. ”How am I supposed to know what size I am” she screamed. ”Why are you and everyone else making this so difficult for me, it is only a wedding dress?”. I like to think I can help anyone, and I have managed to get brides2be sorted out for their big day in under 24 hours before, but that is with them being able to choose a dress, and try it on first. This bride needed a Time Machine, not a Savvy Cinderella. I hope she did get sorted out in the end, but my advise to anyone, is leave yourself enough time to find your dress. If you don’t have much time, I am sure we can help, but be open minded on the style of dress, as short timescales does limit your choice somewhat. If you have a dress in mind, and it has to be that one, then make sure you leave enough time to get it ordered. On that note, Romantica have just upped their delivery time to 16 weeks, so it is more important than ever to leave enough time to find your dress, and order it and get it altered before the big day. We do have lovely dresses here which you can take away immediately if they fit, and if not, can be altered in 1 – 2 days, but it is less stressful for everyone if we have a bit more notice than a few hours. We also have our own range of gowns that take approx – 6- 8 weeks to be made to measure. So, hopefully we can help anyone find the perfect wedding dress, and in the timescales you require, but we have to be realistic. So, to this Bride 2 be, I hope you have a lovely wedding day tomorrow, and I sincerely hope you found your perfect wedding dress in time. Good Luck.
My lovely son brought out his Fathers day card from school. He usually does one with a brilliant drawing and some witty comment inside, so I was looking forward to today’s effort. On the front was a pair of hands holding a card, which read ‘I am sending you this card because….” and those words were artily drawn across the top of the card too. Inside the card were the un-forgetable words, “…. my school forced me to”. Oh the love, the emotion, the effort that went into that card. I asked him why it wasn’t very loving and he replied, “who wants a card made by a kid, lets just moonpig him one when we get home”. It brought a tear to my eye!
To my lovely Claire - Have a lovely weekend Mrs T – thanks for your comments today, you cheered me up! Hope your new job is fantastic.
Enjoy it all
Sue xx
