The Cerise & Patience Veils, By Elizabeth Dickens, a Savvy Cinderella Special!
I have been speaking to Alan, owner of Elizabeth Dickens veils, about what he would recommend as a perfect veil, with sparkle. We get lots of requests for veils to match dresses, and ‘with sparkle’ is often the number one description. As usual, Alan has come up trumps. He had lots of suggestions for me, but two were such perfect veils, that I think either of them would add extra wow to your whole look. The first is the Cerise. The detail on this veils is simply beautiful. It is perfect to add delicate sparkle to a dress. Framing the veil are little teardrop crystals, on the embroidered swirl and scolloped edge. The veil is perfect with a dress like the Eleni or Zeta by Romantica, as the detail is stunning, complimenting yet not competing with detail on the veil. Available in all the standard lengths, as well as the special request lengths, this veil is a really lovely choice, and a very good price.
The Patience is also a veil with extra sparkle, but in totally a different way. The concentration of extra crystals around the top of the veil really makes it look as if your hair is bejewelled with hundreds of little crystals, and the way they gradually dissipate down the full length of the veil, adding a subtle yet glorious sparkle to the dress is a testament to the excellent design that Elizabeth Dickens deliver. Whether the shorter length or the super long cathedral, both options create a dramatic and delicate effect. Not an easy combination to achieve, but done so well here. Both these veils have been chosen by two of my all time most favourite brides. Both called Kelly, both such different brides, but both so stunning, with wonderful families and friends around them. Both brides are going to have perfect wedding days, because they have all the love and support of the nicest people I have ever met, all supportive, all great fun and really focussed and organised to ensure both Kelly’s enjoy their day to the max.
So, have a wonderful day Kelly L and Kelly A – I have enjoyed working with you both, and really look forward to seeing your wedding photo’s. Working with brides2be is always fun, but you have made my job so easy and I have laughed so much when with you. Thank you.
Speaking of laughing, my lovely No1 son was home this weekend, saying farewell before he leaves for pastures new (literally pastures, Norway is so green). We are going to miss him so much, but we both know he is going to enjoy his new life abroad, and his lovely wife and her family will look after him well. He has made us laugh so much, and we really enjoyed our weekend, talking of the old days, when our little family was very young, but always very very happy. I reminded him of the time he handcuffed his legs together, and a neighbour had to hacksaw the plastic cuffs off his ankles during school lunch hour, and we laughed at how Kris (2nd in command son) would spend many a happy hour sending photographs through the air from the over-zealous toaster. I would walk into the kitchen and see flames streaking across the sky as family snaps were engulfed in Kris’s games. Not to be recommended. How they both lived to be adults is a mystery to me. At my parents house on Saturday evening, my youngest son raided the family album. We laughed so much as we saw baby pictures of Kieren, where the girl with him (me) looked about 12, and Kris and him were pictured again and again with big smiles and laughing constantly. Then there were the pictures from the skiing trip, when the boys were really little. Kieren was an accomplished skier at 7, and Kris was the cutest skier at just 2. One lovely picture shows Kieren in a heap, with ski’s at opposing angles. A mass of goggles, snow and ski’s. If you looked carefully at the picture you could just make out the look on his face. He looked as if he was about to cry or was crying, and in pain. Whoever took the picture had the caring nature to snap the shot before checking to see if he was okay. He survived to ski another day, and I am sure our loving approach made his stint in the Navy a doddle. Kris was always right behind him, and I loved the way that they would always look out for each other.
Then came out the photo’s my Mum would rather not have shared. Sam had discovered them a while ago, but waited until we were all there to carefully introduce them, for maximum effect. The pictures are of a very lovely looking mum taken many many years ago, long before she became a grandmother. My husband has now nicknamed my mum ‘Jilly’ after the 1970′s page 3 girl. Sam is still scarred for life, at seeing his ‘cottage pie making Grandmother’ in a state of undress on a spanish beach. I explained that my mum was not always a Grandmother - but to Sam, she will always be dear Nana – now with a dark side! I asked Sam if he would be showing such pictures of me to his children in years to come. ’No fear” he said “you would never do that on a beach would you?” – ’Your figure isn’t half as good as your mum’s was”. Thanks, Son.
So, an end of an era. My eldest will be a Norwegian before I know it, but he will always be a true Englishman at heart. He loves PG Tips, English Ale and Chicken Tikka Massala too much to ever be anything else. So Bon Voyage my wonderfully witty, kind and courageous son. Your Dad will miss his nights out with you more than you will ever know, so come back to England often with your lovely wife. A Curry and Kebab are always waiting for you. The days when you, me and Kris would take the roof off the car, drive through the Fens singing ‘Cool for Cats’ will never be forgotten – and often recreated. Sam and I drove through the glorious Fens today, roof off, wind in our hair, singing along to Blondie ” Call Me”. Happy Days!
Enjoy it all, it goes by so fast
