Flowers, Cake, Chocolate & Goran – My favorite things!

It has been another busy week here, and a record day today for collections for wedding dresses, with brides traveling not just across the country, but across the world to get married.  I always like to see the pictures of the weddings that take place, and Dyll and I really enjoy seeing the outcome of all our work, so it is really lovely when our brides take the time and trouble to bring us in, or post and email us their photo’s.  It is an easy thing to say that we would like to see your pictures, but we really do mean it.  It gives us such a wonderful sense of achievement, to see our clients looking so beautiful on their day, knowing that we played a small part in helping them find the right dress.

I have had three brides take the trouble of bringing their photo’s over to me this week, and all have been so thrilled with the way their day turned out. The pictures all show happy, smiling brides in beautiful dresses, surrounded by loved ones. I always say that when you climb into bed at the end of your wedding day, as long as you are married, nothing else matters. The adventure together starts.

There are few weddings that go ahead exactly according to plan, often there are minor hiccups along the way, but on most occasions these little hiccups go unnoticed, and if they are noticed, they hardly matter.  The main focus of the day is the Bride and Groom, and if the waiter drops a tray of hot food, or the Vicars mobile rings (both have recently happened) no one really minds, people laugh good humouredly with the Vicar, and the concern is generally for the wellbeing of the waiter, and as long as it is quickly cleared away, there is no real harm done.

This week I have been lucky enough to meet a new born baby  from one of our happy couples, and have been brought beautiful flowers, chocolates and lots of hugs and kisses, and lovely notes of thanks.  I really do appreciate it.  What I love the most, is that I have met and made some lovely friends along the way, and it really is a pleasure and a privilege to be part of the planning stage, and to be thought of afterwards too.  The testimonials we get are so lovely, and I never take any thing for granted.  Each wedding is special, and we want it to be perfect, so we work hard to make sure your visit here is stress free, enjoyable, and hopefully useful to you. So when people do take the time to show us how much our service has meant to them, we really value their comments.  It is a sad fact though, that due to health and safety reasons, it is not possible for Dyll to always share in the cake and chocolate.  I do always tell her when there is cake, but sometimes she just isn’t quick enough, and I am forced to eat it all myself, before it goes off you understand. Especially the chocolate, it”s amazing how quickly that needs to be eaten (normally within 10 minutes of it being left here!).   I think she understands the sacrifices that I have to make, to protect her from potential food poisoning.  Luckily for me she isn’t a big chocolate fan, so she doesn’t mind too much, but cake is another matter! And our Dyll is very partial to biscuits, so I do keep my hands off those.

I also get such pleasure from the gifts we have received of plants.  I have had some lovely roses given me over the past few months, and I am building up quite a lovely little rose garden. It sounds corny I know, but everytime I look at the lovely blooms, I am reminded of the bride who gave them to me.

So thank you again to all my lovely clients who have made my job so enjoyable.  I can honestly say there isn’t another job I would rather do.  Well actually there is one, which I stupidly mentioned in ear-shot of my youngest son.  I can’t say what my dream job  is, but he mentioned it very loudly at a packed restaurant.  The gasps from other tables was audible.  All I will say, is that it involved Goran Visjnic and if the position of  chief back washer (I’ve toned it down for decency purposes) ever comes up – I am out of here!

To my lovely Davina – Deep breath, and enjoy it all.  Keep in touch my lovely friend, and good luck to you both.

Sue xx
